INTRODUCTION.
Who - What - Where - When - Why - How.
Who we baptise.
born again believers.
Infants have not made a decision.
When we baptise.
as soon after salvation as possible - it is a display that one has chose to receive Christ.
Baptism does not forgive sins it is a display.
Why we baptise.
commanded
it is a public display of an inward change.
How we baptise.
Immersion in water - plunge - dip - washed.
not sprinkling or pouring.
The way the original church did baptism.
not until 13th century did some start using sprinkling.
Big Idea: Baptism is a powerful declaration of faith that calls us to live out our new life in Christ and reflect His grace to the world around us.
Matthew 3:13–17 NASB95
13 Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. 14 But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” 15 But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him. 16 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, 17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
MESSAGE.

I. Baptism is a Transformative Moment in Your Faith Journey.

1. You become Obedient to the Father.

2. Your public declaration of your faith in Christ.

John 1:33 NASB95
33 “I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

3. The initial act in your ministry.

Jesus began His ministry with baptism and concluded His ministry commanding baptism.

II. Baptism is an Encouragement to Walk in Your New Life.

1. No Longer bound to sin.

2. You have become identified with Christ.

Romans 6:3–4 NASB95
3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

III. Baptism helps you to Embrace your identity in Christ.

1. You are to walk in your righteousness.

Our righteousness found in Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB95
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Romans 3:21–26 NASB95
21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Romans 3:24 CJB
24 By God’s grace, without earning it, all are granted the status of being considered righteous before him, through the act redeeming us from our enslavement to sin that was accomplished by the Messiah Yeshua.

2. You are to walk in your sonship.

Matthew 3:17 NASB95
17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”

3. You are to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.
